Cookies and storage
Last updated 5 October 2026 · Version 1.0. Written in plain words from how Sitecomb works, and not yet reviewed by a solicitor.
Short answer: Sitecomb sets no cookies of its own. It keeps up to three small items in your browser (one of them only if you accept), and a few things load from other companies. Every one is listed here.
What does Sitecomb keep in my browser?
These are small notes your browser keeps for us. They are not cookies, and your browser doesn't send them to us on its own.
| Name | Kept in | What it holds | How long | Do we ask first? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| sitecomb-consent | Your browser's local storage | Your visit-count choice: "accepted" or "rejected". | Until you clear it with "Cookie choices" or clear your browser data. | No. It only remembers what you chose. |
| sc_touch | Your browser's session storage, and only after you click Accept | How you first arrived: the tags on a link you clicked (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign), or a short label such as "x" or "google" worked out from the page you came from. It is only written when there is something to record. | Until you close the tab. | Yes. It is stored only after you click Accept. Before you choose, or if you click Reject, it is held in the page's memory only and is gone when you close or reload the page. In either case it is sent to us only if you use the free score or check out in that visit, where we count it in anonymous totals. If you ask for help fixing your site, it is added to that request. |
| sitecomb-owner-check | Your browser's local storage | Only if you run a check from your own browser: your check code and, if you typed it, your email address. | Until your check finishes (we then remove it), or until you clear your browser data. | No. You asked for that check, and it can't run without it. |
You can block or clear all of these in your browser settings. The site still works without them.
Does Sitecomb set cookies?
No. Nothing we have written sets a cookie. The companies in the next section may set their own. We list what we know.
What loads from other companies?
Fonts are served from our own address, so nothing is fetched from a font provider when you visit.
| Who | When | What they can see | Do we ask first? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vercel Web Analytics | Only after you click Accept on the banner. | The page, where you came from, your country and device type, as anonymous totals. Vercel describes it as cookie-free. | Yes. It does not load until you accept. |
| Stripe | After you click Pay. You are then on Stripe's own payment page, not ours. | Your payment details. We never see your card number. Stripe's page may set its own cookies: see Stripe's cookie policy. | No. It's how you pay. |
| Sentry (error reports) | While you use the site. Reports go through our own address, so your browser doesn't contact Sentry directly. | What broke or ran slowly on a page. No screen recording, no typing, no email address, no cookies, no query strings. | No. It keeps nothing in your browser and holds no personal data. |
We don't use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or tracking across other sites.
Cloudflare's "I'm human" check (Turnstile) is not used today. If we ever switch it on, we'll list it here first.
How does the visit-count choice work?
The first time you visit, a banner asks whether we can count your visit with Vercel Web Analytics. Nothing is counted before you choose.
If you click Accept, the counting script loads from our own address. If you click Reject, nothing is counted and we don't ask again.
We keep your choice in your browser only, in the "sitecomb-consent" note above. If your browser blocks storage, your choice lasts only for that page view.
To change your mind, click "Cookie choices" at the foot of any page. It forgets your choice and asks you again.
