Acceptable use

Last updated 5 October 2026 · Version 1.0. Written in plain words from how Sitecomb works, and not yet reviewed by a solicitor.

These rules say what you may and may not do with Sitecomb. They are short, and they sit alongside our terms.

What may I check?

Check websites for a fair purpose: your own, your clients', or one you're thinking of working with. That is the rule in our terms.

You may give or show your report to whoever looks after your website. If a check scores 80 or more, the person who bought it may publish it as a public page and badge.

What must I not do?

Please don't:

  • use a Sitecomb report to harass anyone, or to mislead anyone, for example by showing a score a website didn't get;
  • check a website over and over to overload it, or to be a nuisance to its owner;
  • use Sitecomb to break the law;
  • use scripts, bots or many network addresses to get past the limits on the free score. The free score has a small daily limit overall, and for each network address and each website;
  • try to get around any limit or check we use, or to attack, probe or overload Sitecomb itself;
  • use our name or badge so that it looks as if a website got a score it didn't get.

These rules apply to checks you run through an AI assistant, too. The same limits apply there.

What does Sitecomb do to a website it checks?

If you own a website and found Sitecomb in your logs, here is what the checker does. It does only what a visitor or a mail server would do anyway.

  • It reads public pages only. Nothing behind a login.
  • It names itself. Its user agent starts with "SahbisAuditBot". The phone check adds a phone browser's details after that name, so your site shows its phone layout.
  • It respects your robots.txt when it follows links around your site.
  • It is gentle: at most 4 requests at a time, and at least 200 milliseconds between requests to the same site.
  • It never fills in or submits a form, never sends a password, and never guesses at hidden addresses.
  • It doesn't probe for weak spots or try to log in. It stops if your site blocks it, and it never tries to get around a block.

To stop us checking your website, email hello@sitecomb.com with its address. We'll stop. If a public check page exists for your site and you want it removed, say so in the same email and we'll take it down.

What can Sitecomb do if the rules are broken?

We may refuse a check, limit it, pause it, or stop someone from using Sitecomb. We can pause the free score at any time. We'll do this when the rules above are broken, or when a request looks like abuse.

The money-back promises in our terms still apply to a paid report we couldn't deliver.

How do I report abuse?

Email hello@sitecomb.com. Put "Abuse" in the subject, and tell us the website address and what happened.

We treat it as a complaint under our terms: we reply within 48 hours and aim to sort it out within 30 days.
